Sodium Nitrate
Sodium Nitrate is used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries as an oxidizing agent, and in the production of anti-corrosion agents, and for the manufacture of other nitrates. In the petrochemical and metal-working industries, Sodium Nitrate is used as an ingredient of heat-transfer salts and for descaling, pickling, or cleaning metals. Sodium Nitrate is also used in the production of explosives for mining and quarrying, and in the manufacture of flares. Sodium Nitrate is available in two grades, U and RW. Both are white, finely crystalline salts. RW grade is treated to help prevent caking during storage. U grade is untreated.
